Review: The A-Team

Back when I was 9 years old, the A-Team was awesome man, representing a fantastic Saturday afternoon escape from the clutches of a mother hell-bent on dragging me around the town centre to purchase ill-fitting school shoes, the adventures of Hannibal, Face, Murdoch and B.A happily helped form my entire view of the Midwest, a mythical land full of villainous landowners, oppressed townsfolk, and non-murderous mercenaries who would happily defend your property and your honour –even if doing so involved building a tank that launched cabbages at heavily armed brigands. Over the years, I’ve caught a few reruns and realised that like its contemporaries, it’s actually slow, disastrously plotted mix of improbable scenarios, comedy villains and cigar-chomping, milk-drinking catchphrases. Luckily, the movie is exactly the same.

Review: Sex And The City 2

Now, it may seem we’ve been a little slack on the reviews front here at STS this week. “I expect their reviewers have all got swanky jobs as corporate journos at celebrity websites, they can’t be arsed writing for the likes of me anymore…” I can hear you saying. But honestly? I’ve spent most of my long weekend wondering exactly how I can put this abomination into words with out using extra, Lovecraftian letters that burst human eardrums and syllables that should not be.

Now, I’m all for the odd crap movie -hey, I even gave Miley Cyrus’ last effort a decent go, but what I’m not for is misanthropic, petulant, childish ultra-crud like this…

Hey you poor (rich) broken down (pumped up with Botox and Collagen implants) 40-something (57) urban go-getters (shallow idiots), if you’ve never wondered if there’s more to life than slurping Cosmopolitans and talking shit about your perfectly decent partners, then here’s the movie to blow your doors of perception right open.

Everyone else? RUN!

Reposted from our esteemable colleagues over at watchwithmothers.net:

I say – here’s a decent way of whiling away some time!

You may have seen this new film trailed on the television. Well now you can be in the trailer.

What with The Crazies coming out in cinemas soon, the studio’s come up with an amusing way of making the trailer go viral, enabling you to add their actual, real face into the clip using technology! Try it here.

I had a go at doing it with the face of George Lamb – but there’s no limit to who you can get involved. Paul Shane, Dawn Porter, Noel Edmonds… the whole world of TV is at your fingertips.

While you’re about, it why not have a look at the trailer…

Daybreakers

What better way to avoid the UK Snow than a a trip to the local googleplex you might think. Unfortunately something hits you pretty quickly as you glance through the now playing listings –yep, pretty much every film out this January is designed to send a shiver – either of horror or of boredom – down your spine, and Vampire Actioner Daybreakers is a trite case in point.

NewsGush: Crank Up The TV

Far be it for us to diss the movies, but with the likes of 24 and..erm…Relic Hunter…the small screen has long had more than it’s fair share of high-octane action. Fortunately for those of us who prefer Cinema’s unique buzz, Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have decided to combine the two, pitching an hour-long drama to NBC this week.

Given the sheer lunacy the pair bought to the Stath-starring mechanical heart/synthetic drug explosion-a-thons, the series-tentatively titled Zeroes – has a lot to live up to, but the pair aren’t worried;

“We want to drop right into it and sustain the absolute most berserk state of crisis, when all of the options have been exhausted” says Taylor in the Hollywood Reporter.

What do you think-can the human brain take 26 episodes of berserk? Or should they stick to the DVD market?
