With Sean “Y’bloody bastards’ Bean in full knight’s regalia and ‘Severance’ man Christopher Smith in the directors chair, you’d be forgiven for expecting a ridiculously gory horror that doesn’t take it’s historical trappings too seriously. Rather than following in the thoroughly ridiculous footsteps of ‘Soloman Kane’ however, Smith seems to have taken a conscious decision to continue the expressive expansion he began in Triangle, resulting in a film that isn’t afraid to play the stupid seriously, and it’s all the better for it.

The Road
2 Comments2009 may well be remembered as the year of the apocalypse – cinematically at least, and despite strong (not to mention patently ridiculous) bids from Zombieland and 2012, The Road is the literary pinnacle of the years filmic lust for devastation. NewsGush: New Season Of The Witch Trailer Online.
0 CommentsWith All Hallowsmas fast approaching, studios are clamouring to promote their Horror product this week, and Nic Cage – yes, the southern, drawling Nic Cage – playing a 14th century knight in upcoming actioner Season of the Witch is certainly one of the weirder offerings scuttling from the bowels of tinseltown.
Tonally it looks fairly straight-laced, with a monstrously be-wigged Cage exorcising a woman who may be causing the Black Death, although the garish colours hint this could be treading a very tricky line between The Masque of the Red Death and Army of Darkness – no guesses which we’re rooting for.

Newsgush: Daybreakers Wants A Bite Of The Apocalypse Action
0 CommentsZombie apocalypses may be all the rage these days, but it’s heartening to see that other cretures that go bump in the night aren’t being completely ignored. Witness the new trailer for Daybreakers, with the always value for money Sam Neil leads a particularly stellar cast fighting a Vampire plague ridden Earth.
Let’s face it-any movie with Willem DeFoe firing a crossbow at Dracula has to be worth a look right?
