Here in swingin’ London town, going to a movie doesn’t always have to mean ‘sitting in multiplex scarfing electric cheese flavour nachos. ‘ Nope, there’s a whole raft of cinematic ‘events’ and ‘experiences’ going on at any given time, and Curzon Cinema’s monthly Midnight Movies are one of the best and most enduring of a pretty funky bunch.

So it was that STS strapped on our grooviest velvet Nehru jacket and go-go danced our way down to this month’s event – a super-sexy sci-fi spectacular screening of 60’s cheeseathon Barbarella….

Midnight Movies Presents: Bad Santa!

What’s your Christmas Party going to be like? Photocopied buttocks courtesy of Dave from Accounts? Or a family affair as Grandad falls asleep and farts constantly for 3 hours while you try to watch Bond?

Or will it involve free Jameson punch, a ‘Grotty Grotto’, sexy elves, DJs, Karaoke and a screening of the best anti-Christmas movie ever – Bad Santa?

Well, it could, if you get down to the Curzon in Soho, London for Midnight Movies Twisted Christmas Party!

The Slashing The Seats staff have been to most of the events that Midnight Movies put on, and we have to say – they kick ass. In a world of streaming movies and Blu-Ray blah, they really make going to the Cinema worth it. So get your asses down.

Despite the greying beard, John Landis has about him the youthful, upbeat air of a man who can’t believe his luck. His enthusiasm and good humour are infectious as he jabbers about the upcoming blu-ray release of An American Werewolf in London, premièring at this year’s FrightFest, as well as touching on his greatest hits, upcoming Universal Theatrical re-releases and his relationship with the late Michael Jackson. STS was lucky enough to catch the man at the recent Midnight Movies showing of Werewolf at Soho’s Curzon Theatre, where he proved to be as amiable and amusing as many of his films…
