NewsGush: Meet The Helicarrier!

Tired of driving that clapped out Ford Rocket-submarine you got back in ‘82? Maybe it’s time to consider an upgrade…possibly to something like: The S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier!

Once MArvel get’s done with Thor and Captain America, those two bstions of four colour freedom are set to team up with Iron Man to fight ‘a threat no single super hero could vanquish’ in Joss Wheedon’s The Avengers. Marvel’s super-secret S.H.I.E.L.D organisation (led by the one-eyed Samual L. Jackson, will also have a major part to play as the hero’s ‘handlers’, which means they’ll need a pretty nifty base of operations -seen here in this leaked design by movie artist George Hull.

First Look: Thor

Thor

While Mjolnir may have a bit-part in a certain massive summer blockbuster out now, Marvel’s god of thunder The Mighty Thor has been conspicuous by his absence lately, but thanks to Yahoo Movies who posted this first pic of Chris Hemsworth all dolled up Asgardian style earlier today, and we have to say…it’s not bad. Obviously using the current comics incarnation as a template, the costume stays very true to the comic-book spirit – although we reckon the cape looks a little bit daft.

destroyer

Also rumbling round the net today, the Latino review uncovered this first pic of Thor’s big bad – The Destroyer. An enchanted suit of armour that likes nothing more than beating the crap out of wayward Norse mythological types.

What do you reckon to the look – it’s certainly Kirby-esque, but will it look silly on the screen?

For some unknown reason, people seem quite excited by the thought of Seth Rogen playing “worst-superhero-ever-apart-from-the-steel-spider” The Green Hornet, so it’s with some fervour that these production pics of the costume have leaked out.

Rogen himself has reportedly seriously slimmed down for the role, but it’s unclear whether that’s him dolled out like a doorman at a hotel for Leprechauns. Either way, the production has been busy dropping bulldozers onto traffic and blowing things up in LA this month, so it’s possible there’s hope yet.

What do you think? Does the post-Watchmen return of non-powered capes to our screens warrant an air-punching “Yesssss!!!” or a nonchalent “meh”?
