While most of us are more interested in how Michael Cera is going to provide convincing ass-kickery in Edgar Wright’s upcoming take on Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, a few noodly folk fans (and bending robots) might perk up to hear that Scott’s band Sex Bob-omb will be playing tunes provided by Deep Fried Lover himself, Beck Hansen.
Wright spoke to Digital Spy about the movie – “Beck has put together tunes based on crappy lyrics I wrote; the two tracks in the trailer are both by Beck.” Earlier reports suggested that Metric would also be heavily involved in the soundtrack, so possibly less epic epicness, more bleepy noodlyness – in an awesome way obviously.

This movie appears to contain hitting and leaping. Surely we can’t condone that sort of thing?
Can I nominate Legion as etc etc.
Hollywood has an appalling health and safety record Pilchard -just look at the 1976 Burt Reynolds ‘comedy’ vehicle Hooper if you want proof!
That good ol’ Hollywood disregard for life and limb brought us many classic sequences, not least that honestly-it’s-integral-to-the-plot bit where Popeye Doyle chases the train in his car in the French Connection.
and of course, the bit where General Zod’s girlfriend get’s knocked down a ravine -sexyness AND unnessecary violence.
Any more readers?
I’d like to mention that 98% of the Bourne movies are superfluous running, jumping, hitting and driving. That leaves 2% for Matt Damon to frown and buy train tickets.
Which is patently ridiculous – have you ever tried to buy a ticket at Waterloo station? It takes at least 25 minuted to que up, and that’s if you aren’t delayed by..oh I don’t know..an incredibly annoying japanese harajuku girl who spills her fucking lucozade on your shoes.
I think hitting and leaping is ok as long as the actors involved have undergone the introductory Basic Hitting & Leaping course, or even better the 2-Day Intermediate Hitting & Leaping Training.
You know how in those old westerns you would always see at least one horse come crashing violently to the ground when its rider got hit by an arrow? I’m not convinced that was entirely integral to the plot.
Of course it is Thumps -how else would you be able to tell that them thar injuns was the baddies? Just ask D.W.Griffith
I’ve been into that shop on Waterloo station – the one with the door that leads up to the catwalk where you can run and shoot people. There’s no door. It was all a fix.
Is there a catwalk? I once threw a chip at someone in that upstairs Burger King, but it wasn’t the same.
More shooting galleries at major transportation hotspots I say!
One of the many fabulous things about Legion (film of the decade) is that the baddies observe the rule about attacking the heroes one at a time. And, despite including God as one of its (admittedly offscreen) characters, the film still requires its supernatural characters to hit each other.
I think there was a catwalk, but it went when they put the new barriers in. I was once present when a mass fistfight broke out in the Balcony Bar, but I just kept on playing the piano.
did the fist-fighters attack one suspiciously Matt-Damon looking punter one at a time?
They did! And one of the patrons obligingly turned round at just the right moment for someone to break a chair over his head. I’m telling you, I rubbed my eyes, looked at the booze bottle in my hand, and threw it away.
I seem to remember seeing you as I slid along the Bar Pilchard – I would have said hello, but unfortunately at that moment I was thrown out of a window and into a horse trough.
Was it you who shot out all the bottles ranged behind the bar? I think I remember you ducking just as someone threw a punch at you, so that they hit someone else instead.
Sounds like you guys had some fun. I wasn’t there as I was too busy getting off of my hoss to drink some milk.
I was the one who got caught with the ace up my sleeve -I threw the big round table over?
Thumps-was it you I saw riding out of platform 16 with a busty barmaid behind you in the saddle?
I’m going to Euston to round up a posse.
on your way to wild west finchley?
Interceptor, you mean Chiquita?
Benito’s Hat on Goodge Street Thumps…
