NewsGush: Twohy To Flog Riddick Dead Horse

the20chronicles20of20riddick

Notes emanating from the desk of writer/director David Twohy (Of  ‘Critters 2: The Main Course’ fame…) this week speak of a low budget, tight, focused Sci-Fi drama that makes no concessions to studios and takes no prisoners. Excited yet?

Don’t be.

It’s a sequel to inept dork-fest The Chronicles of Riddick. Seemingly refusing to learn a bloody thing from that debacle, Twohy has promised a return to the stripped-down-but-overrated thrills of Pitch Black.

Speaking to Shock’ Til You Drop, the clearly befuddled helmer said:

The third movie would be more modestly-scaled and it would probably feel more like Pitch Black than Chronicles. The only thing we have to work out is how to do it cheaper…because I don’t think Vin will work for scale anymore…

To be fair, Pitch Black is a pretty good film and Chronicles of Riddick s actually… no… no… sorry… I can’t finish that sentence. You’re right about everything.

“I don’t think Vin would work for scale anymore” – are you kidding? He’d work for half a Curly Wurly and a packet of Wotsits if it meant the chance to be in a film again. I think Mr Twohy overestimates the popularity of his star.

Pitch Black could have been great if only he hadn’t gone back to save them at the end. And i reckon mister diesel would do any project where they allowed him to play world of warcraft on set.

I knew a rat of a man who swore blind COR was the best film ever made, had done fabulously at the box office and would receive a follow-up movie made on an even bigger budget starring Herr Diesel within two years. When I pointed out the film had been a massive critical and commercial failure, he stated the media was deliberately hiding the truth of its success.

He lives in a box now.

    Pitch Black. It’s FUCKING SHITE.

“Did not know who he was fucking with” growls our Vin, trying to look hard because he’s just wrestled a badly cgi’d hammerhead shark. It’s crap. People who like Farscape like it, and Farscape is crap as well.
